ON-SITE SEWERAGE FACILITY (OSSF) REGISTRATION // A large number of properties in the Southern Downs are not connected to a reticulated sewerage system. These properties use OSSFs to treat, store, and dispose of sewage generated on the property. If effluent is not managed appropriately, it can pose a serious risk to public health. It is essential that an OSSF is properly installed, operated, and serviced to perform safely.
To make it easier for OSSF service technicians to complete the scheduled servicing process required by state legislation, Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) is registering all Advanced Secondary Aerated Treatment Facilities in the region to a new simplified digital reporting database called ‘WasteID’. To facilitate this, SDRC officers will be visiting every property that has an Aerated Treatment Facility to apply the registration sticker.
This process is expected to take approximately 5 minutes with no changes to the property owner. All you need to do is reply to the email you will receive in advance of the visit for SDRC officers to safely access your facility on your property.
Council thanks the community for its assistance to help streamline the process of maintaining and managing compliant home sewage treatment systems.
