Another busy day keeping Perth pools crystal clear!

A clean-looking pool is only part of the job.

During yesterday’s services we:

Another pool equipment upgrade completed!

This customer now has a brand-new Astral cartridge filter installed, replacing an old system that had reached the end of its life.

During the installation we also discovered the roof solar heating matting had badly deteriorated. Over time, the rubber from the old solar matting was breaking down and being circulated through the system, which is why the old filter cartridge had turned completely black.

To prevent ongoing contamination and future problems, we:
✅ Installed the new Astral cartridge filter.
✅ Decommissioned the old solar heating pump and redundant pipework.
✅ Removed unnecessary plumbing to simplify the equipment layout.
✅ Tidied up the timber framework left by the previous owner, making the equipment area much safer and easier to access for future servicing.

As first-time pool owners, the clients also received a full handover, covering:
🏊 How to operate their pool equipment.
Basic water care and maintenance.

When and how to clean the cartridge filter.

Tips to keep their pool crystal clear all year round.

Another Filter Upgrade Completed!

Out with the old, in with the new! We replaced this ageing pool filter with a brand-new unit, giving the pool better filtration, improved water clarity and more efficient performance.

It was also a great day on the tools with my son, Wes.

At 12 years old, he’s learning the trade by:
✔️ Cutting PVC pipe accurately
✔️ Preparing and gluing pipework
✔️ Helping dismantle the old filter
✔️ Cleaning out the old filter media
✔️ Learning the importance of doing every job properly

I believe in teaching the next generation practical skills, a strong work ethic and pride in producing quality workmanship.

Winter storms + autumn leaves = one unhappy pool pump!

This week we attended a pool where the skimmer basket had become completely packed with leaves after the recent storms. The restriction was so severe that the suction caused the basket to collapse, allowing leaves to be pulled straight into the pump.

The result?
❌ Broken skimmer basket
❌ Pump packed full of leaves
❌ Reduced water flow
❌ Pump beginning to make abnormal noises

We removed the pump, fully dismantled it, cleaned out all the debris and serviced it to get it running properly again.

A simple check and clean could have prevented an expensive repair or even the need for a replacement pump.

Restoring Water-Damaged Timber Doors

Not every damaged door needs replacing!

A local builder contacted us to restore these exterior timber doors after years of weather exposure had caused the bottoms to rot, swell and the paint to peel away.

Our repair process included:
✔️ Removing all loose and damaged material
✔️ Treating and rebuilding the affected areas with a high-strength epoxy repair system
✔️ Sanding everything smooth
✔️ Priming all repaired sections
✔️ Applying multiple coats of Dulux Weathershield for a durable, weather-resistant finish

The result is a set of doors that are structurally sound again and looking fresh, saving the client the cost of complete replacement.

We removed the old hinges and installed a new set of self-closing, pool-compliant safety hinges, ensuring the gate now closes and latches automatically as required.
