Not all firewood is created equal! The type of wood you burn can make a BIG difference to how well your fire performs – and how clean your chimney stays.

Here’s what to look for:

✅ Use dry, seasoned hardwoods like:
• Ironbark
• Red Gum
• Blue Gum
• Yellow Box

These burn hotter, longer, and cleaner – meaning less smoke and less creosote buildup in your flue.

🚫 Avoid:
• Green or freshly cut wood
• Pine or softwoods (they burn fast & create more residue)
• Treated or painted timber (dangerous toxins!)

• Clean cloth or microfiber towel
• Optional: Commercial wood heater glass cleaner

Steps:
1. Make sure the heater is cool. Safety first! Wait until everything is completely cold before you start.
2. Dip the damp newspaper into some fine ash. Ash acts as a gentle abrasive that lifts grime without scratching the glass.
