A glazed link forms the transition between the original home and the new pavilion at Blairgowrie II.
Designed as more than a circulation space, this quiet connection becomes a place to pause—framing views across the native gardens while bringing natural light deep into the home.
The existing floor plan has been thoughtfully reconfigured to accommodate three bedrooms, a teenage retreat, a central family bathroom and a separate powder room, with existing plumbing retained where possible to deliver a more efficient and cost-conscious renovation.

Blairgowrie II is the renovation and extension of an existing 1970s single-level home on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
Rather than erase the home’s character, the design embraces its strongest architectural qualities. The original flat roof and timber beam ceilings are retained, while a carefully considered rear pavilion extends the home for contemporary family living.
The existing red brick façade will be rendered to create a cohesive material palette, linking old and new through restrained detailing and a timeless coastal aesthetic.

Blairgowrie House I was designed around a simple idea: creating generous spaces and memorable moments without exceeding a modest budget. The curved rendered forms soften the street presence, while a base of feature brick grounds the home within its coastal landscape.
Set on a sloping site on the Mornington Peninsula, the house sits towards the rear of the block, reducing the need for extensive earthworks and allowing the architecture to work with the land rather than against it.
The recessed entry draws visitors through deep curved walls, creating a sense of arrival and anticipation before entering the heart of the home.

Designed for gathering.
At Blairgowrie I, outdoor spaces are treated as an extension of the home. The generous front setback becomes a second living zone, anchored by a circular concrete seat and central firepit that encourages connection year-round.
Beyond, the home is organised around everyday family life. Living and sleeping wings are separated by a long gallery-like corridor, while the kitchen forms the social centre of the house. A covered rear terrace, plunge pool and dedicated beach wash-down facilities support a lifestyle shaped by the nearby coastline.
Every element was designed to create a home that feels relaxed, practical and deeply connected to place.

Texture, light and landscape working together.
For Melbourne Road, the brief called for a relaxed coastal Mediterranean aesthetic with a distinctly Australian character. Curved walls, textured render and restrained brick detailing create a façade that feels both timeless and contemporary.
The material palette was carefully selected to maximise impact while working within a limited construction budget. Rather than relying on expensive finishes, the design uses form, shadow and texture to create richness and depth throughout the day.
Native and coastal planting softens the architecture, helping the home settle naturally into its Mornington Peninsula setting.

Mount Eliza house, a new split-level four-bedroom family home with Hoad Building Co.
The laundry and pantry are finished in the same neutral tones as the kitchen. The laundry features open skirting in a tall cupboard for a robo-vac, with a hanging rail behind overhead cupboards for drying. The galley style pantry has been designed with expansive bench space for small appliances with a sink and zip tap. Open shelving to the ‘blind side’ of the room allows easy access to daily food items.
