Happy world day crew! 🌱🌴🌳 Today we are choosing to focus on the endangered Southern Cassowary. With fewer than 4,600 of these living dinosaurs remaining according to the race is on to save this truly majestic species. Considered as ‘rainforest gardeners’ the Cassowary play a crucial role in rainforest and 🙌

The main threats to the Cassowary are due to loss of habitat or deforestation, car strikes (also related to deforestation), dog attacks and the increased severity of natural disasters.

Happy international day of forests! 🌱🌳 From cleaning the air we breathe to filtering the water we drink, shading and sheltering us from harmful UV rays, creating sustainable income, providing nutritious food, reducing stress, improving our health and sequestering carbon. It’s important to take the time and reflect on the integral role forests play in supporting all life in earth 🌏✌️

Did you know that every year, cork oak forests help to absorb up to 14 million tonnes of CO2? 🌎🌳

What’s more is, every time it’s harvested from the naturally regenerative bark of the Cork Oak tree, the new bark that grows can absorb up to 5 times more CO2!! Literally the more it’s harvested, the more it helps to protect the environment. 🌳

This ability to retain carbon dioxide is also passed on to manufactured cork products, like our new bottle carriers. Continuing to ensure this critical function. 🌳

This land in the Daintree National Park is Kuku Yalanji country. The Kuku Yalanji people are the traditional owners of this land, having lived here for thousands of years.

We are proud to be continuing our support of in helping to expand areas of the Daintree like this. Protecting it from deforestation and handing the land titles back to its traditional owners. Enabling them to get back onto country to heal both their culture and the land long into the future!
