✨ Fun Facts Friday ✨
I came across these cleaning “facts” and thought they were pretty funny 😆
Are they all 100% true? Maybe… maybe not. But they’re definitely interesting!
🧽 Did you know…
1️⃣ Around 85–87% of our time is spent indoors, which makes keeping our homes clean pretty important.
2️⃣ Cleaning counts as exercise! Around two hours of cleaning can burn roughly 200 calories. Mopping for an hour can burn about 150+ calories, and scrubbing the tub for 15 minutes can burn up to 90 calories. Who needs the gym? 💪
3️⃣ About 300,000 reported illnesses each year are foodborne. Washing your hands after handling food is one of the easiest ways to stay healthy.
4️⃣ Antibacterial cleaners need time to work – leave them on surfaces for 30–60 seconds before wiping so they can kill germs properly.
5️⃣ 70–80% of household dust is made up of dead skin cells 😳 (sorry… couldn’t unlearn that one).
6️⃣ Iceland is considered one of the cleanest countries in the world, while Sierra Leone ranks lowest, based on factors like air and water quality, emissions, and environmental health.
7️⃣ Your kitchen sink can be dirtier than your toilet seat! Bacteria like E. coli love damp environments, and sinks don’t always get as much attention as toilets.
8️⃣ When you flush the toilet, tiny particles called “toilet plumes” can spray into the air and land on nearby surfaces… including toothbrushes 🪥 Tip: close the lid before flushing!
9️⃣ Banana peels can be used to polish silver and leather shoes 🍌 A surprising (and budget-friendly) cleaning hack.
🔟 An office phone can carry around 25,000 germs per square inch 🤯 A quick daily wipe with a disinfectant can make a big difference.
Happy Friday! 🧼✨
Which one surprised you the most? 😄
