There are many applications nowadays by builders of new dwellings and renovations/additions using products which consist of poly-styrene foam sandwiched between other materials. Strength and optimum insulation are two of the outstanding product characteristics.
However, it is also a characteristic of poly-styrene foam to attract Subterranean Termite interest (termites often prefer the foam over timber-in-service). This is because C02 (carbon dioxide) is one of the effluents excuded as the foam breaks down. This C02 leakage creates the perception of a large food source to foraging termites.
CONCLUSION..
Sandwich boards play an increasing role in today's construction materials market, however, awareness of adequate termite protection by products like KORDON TMB is important.

Termites are ramping up after the recent rain. This house was severely damaged and we worked with the client's builders to find the entry point and destroy the nest during the building repair process.
