Would you actually use a deep end?

Before choosing your new pool's depth, picture how you want to spend time in it: swimming laps, standing and chatting, or a mix of both.

Ask your builder to show the floor profile, including where the depth changes and how much of the pool will be at each depth. If swimming is a priority, check the clear swim length and where steps or seating sit.

The useful question is: “How much of this pool suits the way we want to use it?”

Before moving towards a detailed fee proposal, ask:

1. What is included in the proposed scope, and what is excluded?
2. What access and staging would need to be considered?
3. What should residents be told about the proposed work and access arrangements?
4. What further information is needed before the proposal can be detailed?

Keep the answers together so the committee can review the same information. These are starting questions; the next steps depend on your building and the proposed work.

What should your committee bring to a pool condition walk-through?

It also helps to list the committee's questions before the visit. What needs attention first? What would you like to improve? Are there access arrangements or busy periods to consider when planning the work?
