What an incredible time away working at Arid Recovery with the removal of several feral animals.
It was neat to see this very healthy, though smallish (1.2m-ish), mulga snake cruising around enjoying the warmer weather. But by far the highlight was seeing my two girls get to pat a spotted quoll, and then find a bilby out spotlighting.
Cheers to Lauren, Nathan and the rest of the crew for the incredible work they are doing to look after our native critters.

What a ripper spot to stop for lunch!! Snuck off the beaten track for a bit to explore an old mine site. The amount of green in these hills is incredible.

PSA: When you're reaching in to a bush to untangle a hose that's snagged, and feel like something bit/stung you, look at it and don't just give it a rub and go about your day... I have a feeling I should buy a lotto ticket after noticing these suspiciously nasty shaped marks, 3 days after the incident... could have been a very different story. The area was very itchy/stingy to touch, yet this knucklehead didn't even think to have a look. Just assumed it was some sort of ant or something.

Happy birthday to me... thanks Meta...

Seems that almost any hunting or fi****ms related page is being systematically shut down, flagged for violations, and given no course for repeal. This has already caused a loss of income for some large businesses who advertise broadly on social media. For smaller enterprises like my business, it means the potential loss of work opportunities, limited reach of networking, and an unfair suppression of my content.
Please do all of us in the industry a favour and like and share as many of our pages as possible.

Our prayers and condolences are with all those who have been killed and those who have been left traumatised and devastated following the despicable evil act of terror in Bondi this evening.
We pray for comfort for those who will now wake up for the rest of their lives without a family member. We pray for healing for those who were injured. And we give thanks for the brave men and women, civilian and first responders, who ran towards danger to protect their fellow Australians.

Arid Recovery has partnered with the Australian Land Conservation Alliance (ALCA) to pilot a new Conservation Internship between February and May 2026.

We’re seeking an early-career ecologist (Honours or equivalent experience) for a three-month, full-time paid internship based at our arid-zone reserve near Roxby Downs, SA. The intern will gain hands-on experience in threatened-species monitoring, ecological surveys, and land management.
