For fabulous floors your vacuum cleaner needs to run smoothly. 😀

We recommend "cleaning your cleaner" at least once every three months (unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer’s instructions). Make sure this is all done outside to prevent any dust getting back on to your surfaces. 🦠

For those machines with a filter, ensure you remove it to shake out the dust and rinse any remaining fine particles, by holding under running cold water until it runs clear (be sure to check for electrical components or attachments before rinsing in water). 💧⚡

Leave the filter to dry in direct sunlight if possible, and ensure it is completely dry before placing it back in the vacuum. ☀

Rinse the dust container / barrel, to remove any residual dust and grime, remembering to let it dry completely before reassembling.

Clean the head of the vacuum cleaner according to the manufacturer's instructions, including removing any build up on the brush.

And to finish off, wipe down the head, machine and hoses with a damp cloth. 🧽

Easy Eco-Friendly Winter Wins 🥶❄️

Winter’s here, and it’s the perfect time to make a few small, eco-friendly swaps that keep you cozy and can also help cut waste and energy use. 🧊🌨️

🪟 Seal drafts (door snakes, weather strips, thick curtains) so the heater doesn’t have to work as hard.
🧦 Rug up first: jumpers, socks, beanies and a warm throw can make a big difference before you touch the thermostat.
🧑🏻‍🍳 Use the oven to batch cook stews/curries and use leftovers—comfort food that also warms your heart and your kitchen.
☕ Drink more warm beverages - tea, coffee, hot chocolate & soup.
🧥 Donate or repair before buying new—winter gear often has plenty of life left in it.

You don’t have to do everything at once—choose one or two habits to start, then build from there. Small changes really do add up over the season. 💚

What’s your go-to eco-friendly winter tip (or cozy swap) that you swear by?

⚠️ SNAIL BAIT IS KILLING MORE THAN SNAILS 🐌

If you’re using regular snail bait in your South West garden, we need to talk!

Those bright blue or green pellets? They’re designed to taste sweet. And they do - to quendas, bobtails, magpies, kookaburras, and even dogs and cats. 🐕🐈

We see these gorgeous native animals all around the South West.

But snail bait poisoning is one of the biggest threats they face - and it’s completely preventable.

One pellet can kill a bobtail. A handful can kill your dog. And it’s a horrible, painful death.

SAFE ALTERNATIVES: 🐌🐌
✅ Iron-based snail pellets (safe for pets and wildlife)
✅ Beer traps (snails love it, wildlife ignores it)
✅ Copper tape around garden beds
✅ Encourage birds - they eat snails naturally!
✅ Hand removal (yeah, it’s gross, but it works). Your veggie patch isn’t worth losing our precious wildlife over.

Please, if you’re still using the toxic stuff - bin it today and grab the safe alternative from Bunnings or your local hardware. Our quendas will thank you, 💚

Have you spotted any native animals in your garden lately?

Reduce YOUR footprint today 👣

Small changes in routine can have a big impact on your life. By reducing your carbon footprint, even in a small way, we can do wonderful things for the environment. 🌏

So - what can you change to preserve the environment for generations to come?

* Choose natural beauty products. The fewer chemicals applied to your skin, the fewer that end up in our waterways & the better for your skin. 🧴
* Choose energy efficient appliances & a water saving shower head. 🚿
* Use energy saving light bulbs. Not only will you reduce your energy consumption & carbon footprint, you'll save money as they last longer. 💡
* Switch your electrical appliances off instead of leaving them in "standby" mode. 📺
* Write a shopping list & stick to it, reducing food waste & impulse buying. 📃
* Use reusable shopping & produce bags, minimising plastics in our environment. 🛍
* Recycle correctly. Check what can go into each of your bins, & where in your local area you can recycle e-waste, flammable liquids, etc. ♻
* Consider walking or cycling to your destination, reducing your transportation emissions. 🚲
* And of course, invest in a reusable cup & water bottle. ☕

By making a decision to purchase from environmentally conscience brands and voting with your dollar, we can all do a little bit to help our beautiful planet. 💙🌏💚

Tomorrow is World Bee Day! A day we shine a spotlight on our buzzing friends who play a vital role in keeping our ecosystems thriving. Bees aren’t just responsible for pollinating native plants & crops — they’re the unsung heroes behind much of the fresh food on our tables. 🌻🪻🌸

Sadly, bee populations face challenges like habitat loss, pesticides, & disease. So, let’s give them a helping hand: plant some native flowers in your garden, support local honey producers, & spread the word about the importance of bees. Every small step counts in protecting these hardworking pollinators. 🍯🐝🌼

This World Bee Day, let’s all appreciate the humble bee & everything it does for us. 🌱💛

Today is Endangered Species Day, a time to reflect on the unique animals & plants under threat in Australia & around the globe. From the iconic koala to the elusive Western Swamp Tortoise, over 550 native Australian species are fighting for survival against habitat loss, climate change, & other challenges. It’s up to all of us to make a difference—whether it’s supporting conservation projects, spreading awareness, or making sustainable choices in our daily lives. ♻️🐦🌱

Let’s celebrate our natural heritage & commit to protecting the incredible biodiversity that makes Australia such a special place. Every action counts, & together we can help ensure these species thrive for generations to come. 🐸🦜
