We’ve become aware of a recent post regarding deposits paid to our business, Dirty South Detailing.
While we completely understand the frustration of customers who have been affected by cancellations and delays in receiving refunds, we feel it is important to address some misconceptions.
At no point have we taken deposits and disappeared. At no point have we ghosted customers. At no point have we ignored those affected. Throughout this process we have continued communicating with customers, providing updates where possible and working through matters as they arise.
Deposits were introduced because, like many small businesses, we experienced customers booking work, occupying valuable booking spots, having services completed and then failing to pay balances owed. Deposits were never introduced to take advantage of customers. They were introduced to protect the business from ongoing losses.
What many people don’t see behind the scenes is the reality of running a small business. Over the years we wore the cost of unpaid invoices, unpaid services, last-minute cancellations, no-shows, and countless hours of work that were never compensated. We continued to show up, continued to support our customers, continued to sponsor local initiatives, help people where we could, and provide services to our community.
Unfortunately, the circumstances that led to the closure of Dirty South were not the result of one single event. They were the result of a combination of events.
What has been disappointing is seeing years of hard work, hundreds of happy customers and the positive impact we had within the community forgotten the moment we hit difficult times ourselves.
People are entitled to be frustrated. We understand that. What we don’t accept is the suggestion that we intentionally took money and walked away. That is simply not true.
We have remained contactable, we have continued communicating, and we remain committed to resolving outstanding matters.
Before passing judgment based on a single post, we simply ask that people remember there are always two sides to every story, and real people behind every small business.
To those who supported us through the good times and continue to support us through the difficult ones, thank you. We won’t forget it.
